Hathaway-Sycamores' Annual Golf Tournament Raises over $134,000
On June 5, 2008 at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena, golf enthusiasts and supporters of Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services participated in our 12th Annual Longest Day of Golf. This golf-a-thon (like a jog-a-thon) raises money based on the number of holes played.
Comedian Christopher Titus got the day started with the first swing after a comical failed initial attempt. The crowd loved it. Once again Commander Chuck Street flew the KIIS FM helicopter over the fairway and dropped 200 golf balls at a pre-selected target. There was a cash prize for the person whose ball landed in the hole or closest to the hole. The event, co-chaired by Jack MacKenzie and Jennifer Leal Gowen, was a success; 36 golfers played a total of 1800 holes, and raised over $134,000. Everyone shared the common purpose of helping the children while enjoying a fun filled day on the golf course.
Funds raised help send children at Hathaway-Sycamores to summer camp, in addition to funding educational and therapeutic treatment programs that serve these children year-round. In its twelve year history, LDOG has raised $1,892,000 for the agency.
